What is WASH?
W.A.S.H. (Workshop in Art Studio and History) is an intro art program held at Sam Houston State University. Taught by Bill Davenport and Kathryn Kelley, it is the first step on the path to earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts at SHSU.

Day One
For an ice-breaker, the students were given a newspaper and a roll of tape and were told to build a structure that could support half a concrete block. Looking around at what was built, I wondered if the structures resulted from trial and error or were influenced by existing architecture. For example, before mass communication, how many students would have used triangles if they'd never seen a pyramid? Just something to keep in mind:
